Freedom Day

That was quite the festive day indeed!
What a treat to see the boys and girls of the CCF in their uniforms, after having worked so diligently on their performance. Such a shining example to all the eager little ones in the crowd, I know. I’m sure the stalls and displays and street performances were quite charming, and of course the events at Buckingham were all that one might expect.
It does make one reflect on how the choices we make early in our life echo forward. Each and every one of the students I’ve seen while observing at the CCF site has made a choice to commit to the hard work and service of Our Lord, and should be commended.
And yet, there are others who have chosen to be selfish with their time and energies, to put their own personal interests above the good of the Protectorate. Failing to develop all of one’s possible skills in service to Our Lord’s work is just as selfish as shirking your duties or letting others carry your responsibilities. We must all strive to work closely together, each lending hand and wand to the necessary work, finding joy in our shared unity.
I do hope that those both young and old take a moment in the wake of our shared celebration to reflect on the devotion and dedication that can be shown, and renew their commitment to Our Lord, the Protectorate, and our glorious magical world.

Date: 2012-08-01 04:12 pm (UTC)I really don't think you should be worrying, dear, but I’ve heard more than one comment today about the fact you’re not here. Are you certain that’s the impression of diligence you really want to put forward, especially to our impressionable young people?
Now, you and your young man did look quite striking last night. (I do hope Yvaine Warrington wasn’t too unpleasant, by the by.) It’s most clear how fond you are of him. I do hope, though, you aren’t distracted into forgetting where your greater loyalties should be.
But I also understand how you might be tempted to get some extra polishing done, given that you’ve been keeping company with him for some time now and he doesn’t seem inclined to take the next step. Or - might I be wrong about that? I did hear one or two wonder last night whether there might be happy news in the coming days, since you’ve held his interest this long.
On that count, I’m sure Narcissa Malfoy can tell you far more about setting your cap for a desireable young man than I ever could. Very wise of you to get close to her, my dear, and I’m sure she can help you make the most of your charms.
But of course, if you need help of a more practical sort - if another break from Leicester might help encourage him along, say - I would be glad to assist there. You know it’s my pleasure to help a young witch working to find her place in the world as you are.

Date: 2012-08-01 04:29 pm (UTC)On the whole, I think I’d prefer to be here tomorrow, and see how our Professor Sinistra handles a few matters on her return, and I’m equally curious about how the first code class goes over. Shall we get together Friday afternoon? 1pm or so would work well for me, as I needn’t be here for their work on initial analysis of the battle.
I do have some additional notes to discuss, now we’re preparing to move forward beyond the summer, as well as the handling the more immediate matters.
